| For
fun-flying : it is recommended to use 20 to 30m long lines for the
small kites and 30 to 37m long for the big kites (2m and more wingspan).
For freestyle : generally use 30m
long lines, except in light wind where you can use 20m long lines.
For team flying : generally use
40 to 45m long lines.
For indoor flying or in very light
wind : generally use 5 to 15m long lines, depending on available
space, but with ultralight kites.
25 kgs (50 lbs) lines are suitable
for light wind. In average and strong wind, 70 to 90 kgs (150 to
200 lbs) lines must be used. Generally speaking, the lines are too
heavy if they are not taut during the flight; they are too weak
and about to break if they are whistling.
Do not hesitate to purchase effective
lines since they determine the flying ability of your kite. Ordinary
lines in dyneema are acceptable for fun flying. 'Laser Pro' and
'Top of the line' lines are used in competitions.
