TO VENT A KITE

Vented kites have holes in parts of their sail. They are used for flying in strong wind .

If you vent your kite, it will fly pulling less and at a slower speed; it will fly in stronger winds without bending the frame. On the other hand, it will need more wind for launch.

In competitions, vented and semi-vented kites i.e with less holes can be seen.

COMMENT PROCEDER ?
Two methods can be used :

The more classical one

Cut your kite sail in specific spots and sew a piece of sail with holes in its place. Several shapes can be used.

The easiest and very effective:

Make holes of approx. 8mm in the sail with a soldering iron. The soldering iron burns the edges of the holes which prevents fraying of the sail.
